IBM Philippines and the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE) have partnered to promote artificial intelligence (AI) as a transformative tool in manufacturing. During PIIE’s 20th anniversary celebration in Cebu, IBM highlighted the strategic role of AI in fostering innovation and upskilling the workforce. President and Country General Manager Aileen Judan-Jiao stressed the importance if AI in creating higher-value jobs and enhancing competitiveness, particularly in Cebu, a growing manufacturing hub.
The partnership includes educational initiatives, certification programs, and forums to prepare professionals for AI integration. PIIE founding chairman Rodel “Audi” E.C. Adiviso emphasized the need for upskilling to meet technological demands, while IBM showcased its WatsonX platform, capable of understanding Southeast Asian languages, including Cebuano. Both organizations aim to ensure ethical, widespread AI adoption to drive industry transformation across the Philippines.
